So I have to say it's a little weird that two major online publications have had articles about squirrels in as many days, but they have! And they're making me like squirrels more and more.
Today there is an article about whether animals like squirrels sweat. And there is the most interesting thing about their circulatory systems.
Supposedly their blood goes a different direction in winter than it goes in summer. In the summer, the blood that got cooled from their tails goes directly to their torso to bring their body temperature down. But in the winter, the blood mixes with the blood that been moving around in the squirrel's body to warm up before it goes back to the organs. Isn't that amazing?
I love squirrels.
