"Squirrely" Can Be a Compliment

I think I've told you before that I like squirrels. Sure, we've had our moments, like when they run rampant through the ceiling of the church's Fellowship Hall or chew holes in the wall. And there was the brief period when I thought they were in the attic at home, but mostly, I like squirrels.

Evidently, I'm not the only one. A recent article in the NYT talks about how smart they are. They use "tactical deception" which some scientists used to assume was a primates-only skill. (They use it to trick other squirrels into thinking they buried a nut somewhere, when really, they're going to put it somewhere else.)

Anyway, yay for squirrels!
