C-SPAN needs to get together with whoever it is that produces that super nanny show and get someone to come in and whip the Senate into shape. This most recent affront to human decency came from Tom Coburn (R-OK). On Sunday afternoon, he suggested from the Senate floor that the American people should pray that "someone" wouldn't be able to make the roll call vote on the health care bill. Apparently, it seemed way too clear that the obvious candidate for not being able to make it was Robert Byrd (D-WV) who is 92 and was in bed at home ailing (though he did make the 1:00 am vote). The article linked there exaggerates by saying Coburn wished for Byrd's death, but still.
Being in the Senate used to mean that you were more careful with what you said. If that doesn't do it, speaking about prayer certainly ought to. Shame on you, Tom Coburn! If the Senate had a time-out chair, he ought to be there all week.

We also need to remember that there was a time (back around the civil war days) when one senator beat up another one with a cane. Bad behavior isn't necessarily innovative. But I agree with you about Tom Coburn--and the rest of his 'ilk'.
Here's part of the result.
A caller who thinks her prayer for Sen. Byrd's death got redirected.
ISH.
