Sexuality is Way More Complicated Than We Can Imagine

Children are being sexualized way earlier than makes any sense these days. (A bad thing, in my opinion.) The reality of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and trans-gendered existence is becoming less hidden. (Not a bad thing, in my opinion.) So kids are claiming or at least exploring these identities earlier in life.

But I think what we miss is that such identities aren't just about sex. Or gender, whatever that word means these days. It's so much deeper and more complicated than that.

An interesting article in the NYT reports on how schools are handling kids' desire to express their identities through clothing. It will be fascinating to see where this goes.
