My favorite opinion illustrator columnist, Maira Kalman, has another "column" out in the NYT. She's visited the capital and reports on what she learned.
Her pictures and drawings made me realize that even though I've been to DC numerous times, I've never actually been in a government building. She mentions that one of the people who worked on the capitol building had previously worked on the Vatican. It was weird how similar the styles of decor are. What does that mean?
Anyway, you should check it out. She has such an uplifting, appreciative, focus-on-the-best-in-us approach to life.

Beautiful!
That was neat and brought back memories of my visits to the Capitol
