Weird. A supposedly conservative white guy expresses extremely well the ambivalence I've been feeling about the movie "Avatar" because of its White-Guy-Saves-Things theme. He does a great job of laying out succinctly what is wrong with this picture.
I believe in justice and self-determination for all people. I believe that the gospel calls us to redistributive economics and active non-violence. I believe humor is a gift from God. I believe Jesus is something to do, not something to believe. I have just begun a new ministry as pastor of a small-membership church in Southern California, after serving for ten years in Alabama. (This is not a work blog.) I might have been a labor organizer in a former lifetime. I am aging in many directions. I like words, food, politics, dancing, color, clarity, ambiguity and a lot of other things...
