People have been very up in arms about "earmarks" lately. Which is a little weird, since we all love earmarks. Just not if they're for someone else, evidently.
I wonder how the debate would be different if we were all required to call them "locally controlled spending projects" instead. A wise reminder from Melissa Harris-Lacewell.
